Speedrun-Marathons sind Veranstaltungen, bei denen sich Speedrunner versammeln, um ihre Runs Online, vor Ort oder vor beidem einem Publikum zu präsentieren. Die beliebtesten Veranstaltungen sind die zweimal jährlich stattfindenden Games Done Quick.
Diese Website wurde von Gyoo erstellt. Er ist seit 2013 in der Speedrunning-Community aktiv und hat in vielerlei Hinsicht zur Speedrunning-Community beigetragen: Globaler Moderator von speedrun.com für drei Jahre, Schöpfer des Speedrun WRs Twitter-Bots , Mitglied des französischen Restream-Teams, das einem französischen Publikum Restreams von internationalen Marathons bietet, und Gründer von Bourg la Run, der französischen Variante von Games Done Quick. Nachdem er all diese Erfahrungen gesammelt und festgestellt hatte, dass es kein gutes öffentliches Instrument für die Organisation von Marathons gab, entschloss er sich, eines zu schaffen, und Oengus war das Ergebnis.
