About the event
Started in 2016, Warwick's Awesome Speedruns and Demos (WASD) is a 2-day speedrunning event held annually at the University of Warwick - it's the largest student-run speedrunning event in the UK! Past events have featured a diverse range of games and categories, from Final Fantasy IX to Rise of the Tomb Raider, from Super Monkey Ball to Parasite Eve II. And we've been featured on the front page of Twitch! WASD is organised in collaboration with the University of Warwick Computing Society (UWCS), Warwick Esports Society, Warwick Esports Centre, and Warwick SU.
Donations to the event are in support of SpecialEffect, a wonderful UK-based charity whose mission is to put fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities, by helping them to play video games. They achieve this by using and developing a range of accessibility hardware and software, from modified joypads to eye-gaze technology. To date, WASD events have raised over £6,000 for SpecialEffect!

This year we'll be running the event in mid-February, so get your submissions ready over christmas! We'll be accepting both in-person and online submissions, with a preference towards in-person. Please highlight whether you can do your run in-person when submitting (to help with scheduling). Once your run is accepted, you'll recieve a runner's guide with more information.
