Welcome to the Benelux Speedrunner Gathering
BSG, also known as the Benelux Speedrunner Gathering, is an on-site marathon in the Netherlands. Naturally, the event is open for people from all nationalities. The doors will be open starting Saturday the 13th of August until Sunday the 21st of August. The stream is scheduled to run starting Sunday the 14th of August until Saturday the 20th of August.
Online / On-site
Due to the Covid-19 situation, determining whether we can do an on-site event for Annual 2022 is rather difficult at this point. While BSG Annual 2022 will likely take place on-site, we wanted to keep our options open while we monitor the situation. We understand that submitting might prove difficult with this uncertainty. But we got you covered!
Just like last year, we decided to add an extra setting in the submissions. With this option, you can tell whether your submissions would be for which type of event. On-site, Online, or both! Make sure you are aware of the requirements for each of these, and then fill it in accordingly.

Transportation
Car: When going by car the hotel is right next to the A73 (exit 8). You will see a McDonalds, the venue is the hotel across the street from said McDonald's. Parking at the venue is free.
Public Transport: There is a train going between Nijmegen and Venlo every 30 minutes. You’ll want to take the Venlo-Nijmegen line to Venray Station. We are looking into options for setting up a pick-up service like previous years. More information regarding this will follow closer to the event.
Plane: If you are arriving at Schiphol airport you can take the train to Nijmegen. This is a direct line. If arriving at Eindhoven you’ll want to go to Eindhoven central and take the train to Venlo from there. From here you can take the above-mentioned train.
Alternatively, you can fly to Weeze airport, but be sure to have someone pick you up there. This is about a 30-minute drive from the venue with no proper public transport options.

Chase games
We understand that there will be some hype games that take some time to develop a good speedrun, and just aren't ready for when our deadline approaches.
For these games specifically, we introduce chase games. On May 1st, we will open a "chase games" submission form, for those games that were released on or after March 1st, 2022. These will slide along with our 2nd cuts.
Food & Drinks
You are allowed to bring in food and drinks to the hotel and consume them in the BSG areas. You are not allowed to consume your own food and drinks in the public areas of the hotel. We would also ask everyone not to consume food on stream.
There is a McDonalds across the street and a subway at about a 1 km walk. There are several supermarkets at about 2 km from the venue, parking in Venray is free almost everywhere. Alternatively, there is a bus going to the city center every hour (taking about 9 minutes to get to the center, dropping you off right next to the supermarket).
Entry fee
We are using a ticket system for the event. Tickets will be €70,- per person for the full week. Day tickets will be €20. These tickets will go live on June 1st. Runners will be required to have paid their tickets a month upfront of the event, July 13th 23:59 CEST for reference. Volunteers are requested to get their ticket at least a week prior to the event, August 1st.

Housing
Getting a room at the hotel is the easiest place for housing for BSG Annual 2022. You can book your room directly at https://www.asteria.nl/. Be sure to mention in your reservation that you are part of the event.
Alternatively, there are B&Bs, camping sites and different hotels in the area. The closest cheap place is "Camping De Oude Barrier", which is a camping site about 900 meters from the venue. This will require bringing a tent and sleeping gear.
Volunteering
The volunteering form will open on June 4th.

Our marathon is proud supporter of MIND. Stichting MIND wants to prevent mental health issues by providing the right information and care to stay mentally healthy. We also support people that have dealt with mental issues themselves or within their family. We create awareness and understanding for people with mental problems and promote to be open in order to get the right support.
